Swansfield Park

The Trust has for several years campaigned for a park to be installed on the site of the old Charles A Nelson swimming pool which was closed after the building of the brand new sports and leisure facility in 2004.

Children love laying in the new park

In partnership with Alnwick District Council, and with support from Alnwick Town Council, Carys Thomas, Vice-Chairman of the Trust, entered into discussions with the developer, Charles Church, in order to secure agreement for a new park for Alnwick.

The Trust helped to raise substantial funding for the park which was officially opened on the 11th July 2007. The Park provides a large grassed area which includes a children's adventure playground to suit all ages and it has open spaces where children can play and families can have picnics and take part in other leisure activities. The new park in an excellent example of how partnership working can make the difference, transforming what was derelict land into a fantastic asset for the town which will be used for years to come.
